It’s Friday and that can only mean one thing…this post is the latest installment of my #fandayfriday series!
If you haven’t read any of the posts in my series before, this is my weekly chance to tell the world about five things that I love as well as throw a little #FanDayFriday love to another blogger at the end of this post.
If you haven’t already checked it out, go see my post Halloween Costumes in a Few Easy Steps then read the roundup of articles about Halloween that will help you have a great celebration this year!!
Knowing that my kids are going to be bombarded by junk food Halloween night I went in search of something I could get them to eat before all the partying begins. When I came across Clean & Scentsible Baked Tortellini Pumpkin Sauce I realized I already had most of the ingredients since it’s almost pumpkin pie making time. My kids are pretty picky eaters but if I tell them this is like lasagna then I’m sure this will be something I could easily throw together for them to have before they walked the miles of trick or treating routes with their friends. (Actually they are almost 4 and 6 so there won’t be that much walking, but they will use up a lot of energy bouncing from one house to another.)
While it’s really easy to go out to a store and buy a plastic pumpkin or reusable bag to collect Halloween candy in, Coral & Co has a great Halloween Trick Or Treat Bag Tutorial that anyone with a sewing machine can make a unique bag to send off with their kids on Halloween Night. This also would be a good project to send a treat to school for a teacher or co-worker!
I have two friends who are professional make-up artists and while most of their projects I’ve seen are for fashion runway shows or magazine spreads, having them as friends has opened my eyes to the world of make up. When I was looking for a make up tutorial to add to this list I cam across this Blonde & Ambitious Pop Art Halloween Makeup Tutorial
There is something about the challenge of making a memorable Halloween treat that seems to bring the best out of people. Food TV and other Food Networks always have snack challenges for the holidays and I think that Anchored in Sweets must have been inspired by these types of shows. They came up with the best way to present a cupcake blog post I’ve ever seen. Halloween – Death By Cupcakes is a great mixture of a story and a recipe and is sure to become a yearly favorite!
On the topic of stories…Bootsie and Boogie always come home having listened to new and exciting Halloween themed stories and this year I thought I’d suggest one to their teachers instead of vice versa. Luckily Lit Mamma HomeSchool listed a great post called Story Time – Goodnight Goon on a link party I’m a part of! There are some other crafts listed on this post as well so consider this a bonus since my #FanDayFriday links ususally only showcase 5 things!

Kathy Haan’s philosophy:
I’m just a girl doing a really cool thing with some really cool people. I’m learning that work isn’t like work when it’s a calling. I have a heart for service, a passion for social change, and a desire to continually improve personally and professionally.
